How to Change the Drive Letter of a Device or Drive on Your Computer

on:Windows automatically assigns drive letters that are attached to your computer. For instance, if you plug in an external hard drive, windows will assign a drive letter to it. The hard drive from which your operating system boots from is always named drive C and does not change. Note: windows will not allow you to change the drive letter on your C drive.
Other devices will be assigned different letters as needed. If you have a DVD drive it will normally be assigned as the D drive. If you add an external drive, it will be assigned the next available letter and so on.
